Current

  • Current is the rate of flow of electric charge through a conductor, such as a wire.
  • The unit of current is the ampere (A).
  • The current in a circuit is measured using an ammeter, which is connected in series with the component being measured.
  • Ohm's law states that the current in a circuit is directly proportional to the voltage applied and inversely proportional to the resistance.
  • Exam tip: Remember to use the correct units when answering questions about current.
