Thermal Properties

  • **Heat Capacity**: The amount of energy required to raise the temperature of an object by 1°C. Depends on the material and mass of the object.
  • **Specific Heat Capacity**: The heat capacity per unit mass of a substance. Measured in J/kg°C.
  • **Thermal Conductivity**: The ability of a material to conduct heat. Higher thermal conductivity means better heat conduction.
  • **Thermal Expansion**: The increase in size of an object when heated. Different materials have different expansion coefficients.
  • **Insulation**: Materials with low thermal conductivity that reduce heat transfer. Important for energy efficiency.
